I have reached Thing #23! Some of my favorite exercises along the way have been LibraryThing, Flickr, Delicious, and Google Docs.
Lifelong learning is very important to me and the 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners will be something that helps me to achieve my goals throughout my life. This program has been very effective in helping me to learn new things.
When I started this program I had no idea that it could be so much fun to discover new things. I even learned a few things that our library patrons knew nothing about. I think that I will be a better librarian and a better person because of this program. One of my lifetime goals is to be a servant to others and some of the things have I learned in this journey of Nebraska Learns 2.0 will assist me in this goal.
Some of the things that I liked about this program are: I could complete it at my own pace, I didn't have to travel to take this class, I could work on the exercises at home or at the library, and it was nice to read my fellow librarians' comments along the way. This program benefited me personally and professionally!
If another discovery program like this was offered in the future I would choose to participate. This is not the end of our learning journey, but it's just the beginning of something amazing!
Thank you very much to all who made Nebraska Learns 2.0 such a wonderful journey!

Thing #22
I checked out Podcast.com and signed up for an account. I also signed up for the Home Depot Podcast series. I love living in an old house and doing home improvements so this will benefit me personally. I also love to garden and added Victory Garden to my blogline account. For the library related accounts I added ACRL Insider and BookTalk. I tried to get into YALSA, but the sight was down. I think this would be very useful to me when I am doing Young Adult programming. I receive e-mail newsletters from Barnes & Noble and Borders and I think that they have podcasts with authors. I also receive Joel Osteen daily devotionals and podcasts through my e-mail.
Thing #21
Exploring YouTube was a lot of fun. I have been a Linda Ronstadt fan for a long time and Long Long Time is one of my favorite Linda Ronstadt songs. I also watched the Saturday Night Live Skit "More Cowbell" which is a family favorite - all of my family members are musicians and my son and daughter-in-law are both drummers.
I can't think of any creative ways to use YouTube at the library.

Thing #20
For this discovery exercise I explored the website: www.imcooked.com
The home page explains it all:
Cook It (prepare your favorite meals & have fun doing it)
Film It (Become a star and record yourself cooking your masterpiece)
Share It (Easily share your videos with everyone, public or private)
I watched: Sweet Chicken Strips being prepared to the music of Motley Cure's Kickstart my Heart, which was interesting. My favorite video was of Confetti Cakes demonstrating how to make a sculpted dog cake. She made it look so easy!
My granddaughter and I like to bake together and we sometimes pretend we're doing a cooking show, but we have never recorded ourselves. It would be fun to make a video for ourselves, but I would not want to share it with the world.
This site was fun to look at, but I don't think I would use it in the library setting.

This is a link to the photo calendar I made in Google Docs with my own photos. This was a lot of fun and the possibilites are endless. I loved Google Docs. It is free to use and I can access it from any computer with internet access.

Thing #18
I now have a wiki account and I added my blog to it. I also added to the favorite books and favorite animals. I enjoyed Thing #18.
Thing #17
I liked "Wiki's in Plain English" because it was easy to understand. I also liked the SJCPL Subject Guides. I clicked on to the "Pets" link and found books and magazines about pets, local & other pet links, tips for pet owners, even information about adopting pets. All of these sites were linked to the library card catalog. It was amazing and beneficial to the library.
